New Year is a time for new beginnings and looking forward. But before jumping into the next chapter, it is important to recognise your achievements from the previous one.
With all the noise and hype of social medial, it is easy for us to get lost in what everybody else is doing and forget what we have to be proud of.
Start your 2019 on a high by taking time out to reflect on the past 12 months and celebrate your own victories.
Find yourself comparing? Why not focus on how you can build upon your own goals next time around. Then work on implementing the changes that will bring you closer towards achieving them.
I like to think of each year as a collection of memories and in the lead up to new year, there’s nothing better than pulling them all together and looking back on old photos.
Last year was a varied one for me – not only in terms of travel, but career and personal life too. And by breaking it down, I get to acknowledge each one.
Why not try it yourself – via a blog post, a diary entry or even as a list on your phone? Create a record of your favourite moments over the last year and all you have achieved.
To start us off, here are my favourites as I look back on my 2018.
January: Becoming a fully fledged journalist
February: Volunteering in Zambia
April: Investing in a Zambian start up
May: Blog rebrand
June: Summer picnics and BBQs
July: World Cup
August: Girls’ ‘reset’ holiday to Croatia
First solo concert
First bestie to turn 30. Yikes!
September: First pal to get hitched, in León
October: Exploring northern Spain
December: Christmas treats
So why not give it a go? Make a list of your favourite moments from 2018. Be thankful. And getting cracking on making 2019 the most awesome year yet.
