Madrid, a travel poem

On my first flight to Madrid in seven years, I peered down at the rocky mountains through the circular plane window,

Wide-eyed at the razor-sharp peaks that pointed towards the sky like slate against sapphire.

A caramel beach darkened by a craggy bay caught my attention.

It dawned on me all over again just how much of the world there is to see and how pleasantly overwhelming it feels to be a part of it.
